Cigars - Dunhill Cigars

Dunhill cigars have a rich history throughout the entire 20th century. Alfred Dunhill, founder of Dunhill cigars, opened his first tobacco shop in 1907 on Duke Street in London. Dunhill quickly became famous in England, racking up distribution deals with many Cuban manufacturers.

Dunhill cigars were actually the cigar of choice for Winston Churchill, as well as George VI, the last British King to be the King of Ireland as well as the last Emperor of India. Dunhill maintained his relationship with the Communist Cuban government after the revolution, partnering with Cubatabaco. Dunhill created many famous blends during this era, such as Don Candido, Don Alfredo and La Flor del Punto.

Dunhill did extremely well during this time, and in 1982 Dunhill and Cubatabaco struck an agreement that would create a cigar line bearing the name Dunhill. Dunhill’s downfall began during the late 1980's as the Cuban tobacco monopoly pit Davidoff cigars against Dunhill cigars. As a result of this, as well as new possibilities in the Dominican Republic and Honduras, Dunhill chose not to renew its contract with Cubatabaco. As the 19th century arrived, Dunhill cigars were bought out by British American Tobacco.

Dunhill's master cigar rollers delve from a selection of tobaccos including spicy Piloto Cubano and Olor tobaccos from the Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic. Dunhill cigars feature the finest Connecticut shade-grown wrapper, a tempting mix of fillers from Brazil and the Dominican Republic, and are complemented by a binder from the Dominican Republic. Each cigar is mild to medium bodied with the perfect flavor and balance one can expect from such a big name in cigars. Dunhill was picked up by C.A.O for distribution purposes, effective January 2nd, 2008. Rolled in several popular sizes, each box comes packed with 25 cigars.

In August, 2002, British American Tobacco released the Dunhill Signed Range line to the public. Each box is individually numbered, and bears the signature of the cigar roller, the quality supervisor, the packer and the sorter. The Dunhill Signed Range cigar is made at the Cuevas & Torano factory in Navarette, Dominican Republic. They are more of a full-bodied cigar than the regular Dunhill line. The Dunhill Signed Range cigar contains Columbian and Dominican filler tobacco, as well as a broadleaf binder grown in Pennsylvania. These cigars are regarded to be Dunhill’s top of the line cigar. Pick up a box today before they’re all gone!
